Boys Hockey: State tournament sets attendance record

ST. PAUL - An all-time boys state hockey tournament attendance record was set with 135,618 fans attending Class 1A and 2A sessions at Xcel Energy Center and Mariucci Arena last week.

ST. PAUL - An all-time boys state hockey tournament attendance record was set with 135,618 fans attending Class 1A and 2A sessions at Xcel Energy Center and Mariucci Arena last week.

The previous all-tournament attendance record was set in 2008 when 129,643 fans attended.

In addition, a single-session record was set Friday, March 6, when 21,609 fans attended the 2A semifinals at Xcel Energy Center, a record for the largest crowd to ever attend an indoor hockey game in Minnesota. The record breaks the mark of 19,559 set March 7, 2008, for the semifinals.
