GRAND RAPIDS — Andrew Zuk and Landon Mackcow netted the only two goals for the Brainerd Warriors who were defeated 6-2 by Class 2A’s sixth-ranked Grand Rapids Thunderhawks in a non-conference game Tuesday, Feb. 9.
Their efforts propelled Brainerd to a 2-1 first-period lead before three late power-play goals gave Grand Rapids a 4-2 lead at the first intermission.
The Thunderhawks added two more unanswered goals in the second as they outshot Brainerd 37-7 over the first two periods and finished with a 46-8 shots-on-goal advantage. Brainerd managed just one shot on goal in each of the last two periods.
