Boys Hockey: Top-ranked Hawks too much for Warriors

The Brainerd Warriors traveled to top-ranked Hermantown Saturday, Feb. 6.

HERMANTOWN — Eric Pohlkamp’s first-period goal put the Brainerd Warriors up 1-0 against Class 1A’s top-ranked Hermantown Hawks Saturday, Feb. 6.

But the Hawks came back to score the next six goals and defeated the Warriors 6-1 as they outshot Brainerd 54-8.

Pohlkamp scored on an assist from Grant Gardiepy and Andrew Zuk at the 4:48 mark of the first period.

The Hawks’ power-play was trouble for Brainerd scoring two goals in three attempts.

Brainerd’s Jed Klang turned away 48 of the 54 shots he faced.
