Eric Pohlkamp tallied the only goal for the Brainerd Warriors who opened their season with a 2-1 Central Lakes Conference loss to the Sartell Sabres Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Essentia Sports Center.
Sartell got the scoring started in the first period with a goal 23 seconds in.
Pohlkamp’s goal off a Landon Mackcow assist tied the game 1-1 at the 6:28 mark of the second period.
Sartell responded with under to play in the second period when Teddy McCabe scored the go-ahead goal.
Warriors goalie Jed Klang recorded 16 saves for the Warriors who outshot the Sabres 26-18.

Brainerd will look to get in the win column in its next game Tuesday, Jan. 19, against Moorhead at home.
