Boys Hockey: Warriors overtake Greyhounds 3-2

Brainerd goalie Jacob Mitchell rejected 27 of the 29 shots he faced as the Brainerd Warriors defeated the Duluth East Greyhounds 3-2 at the Essentia Health Sports Center in Brainerd Friday, Jan. 18.

Brainerd goalie Jacob Mitchell rejected 27 of the 29 shots he faced as the Brainerd Warriors defeated the Duluth East Greyhounds 3-2 at the Essentia Health Sports Center in Brainerd Friday, Jan. 18.

East grabbed an early 1-0 lead before Mason Kruse punched in the equalizer on a power play assisted by Riley Andres and Joe Klang at 11:24 in the first period.

Brady Anderson put the Warriors up for good with the only goal of the second period assisted by Christian Kadolph and Mike Laber.

Kadolph and Laber assisted again on an insurance goal by Riley Andres in the third before Frederick Paine slipped East's final goal past Mitchell with less than two minutes remaining.

The Greyhounds outshot Brainerd 29-26.

Duluth came into the game with a 10-3-1 record while the Warriors entered 9-6.
