SARTELL-Jack Thorkelson notched a first-half hat trick and the Brainerd Warriors played to a 5-1 Central Lakes Conference victory over the Sartell Sabres Thursday, Sep 20.
Thorkelson scored two unassisted goals and was assisted on the other by Mason Malone. Nick Whitemen also notched two unassisted goals as the Warriors improved to 7-3 overall, and 5-2 in conference play.
Noah Sundberg stopped six of the seven shots he faced in net.
"We really came out with intensity in the first half with three goals in three minutes," said Warriors head coach Tom Grausam. "With the rain it was sloppy, but we played really well and controlled the ball."
