Nick Whiteman netted the only goal in the Brainerd Warriors 1-0 win over the Bemidji Lumberjacks in a non-conference match Saturday, Sept. 22 at Adamson Field in Brainerd.
Whiteman put in a header off a pass from Jack Thorkelson at the four minute mark of the first half and the rest of the match was a defensive struggle according to Brainerd head coach Tom Grausam.
"Bemidji is ranked in the state and this was a big win for us-a full team effort," he said. "Our defense really stepped up and we held them."
Warrior keeper Noah Sundberg rejected all eight shots he faced as Class 1A's seventh-ranked Bemidji outshot Brainerd 8-6.
