Preston Owen's win in the 100-yard backstroke was the lone first-place finish for Brainerd against the Sartell Sabres who defeated the Warriors 125-61 in Thursday's Central Lakes Conference duel of unbeaten teams at the Brainerd High School pool.
Sartell, ranked third in Class 1A, improved to 5-0 in the conference, 7-0 overall, while Brainerd dipped to 4-1 in the conference and overall.
Owen picked up a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle.
Also recording second-place finishes for Brainerd were Michael Bylander (200 individual medley), Tim Whiteman (diving) and Gunnar Niemeyer (500 freestyle)
The Warriors finished second in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays and were third in the 200 freestyle relay.
