Boys Swimming and Diving: Warriors second, two earned titles

SARTELL--Gunnar Niemeyer and Preston Owen both captured Central Lakes Conference individual championships and the Brainerd Warriors placed second in the conference Saturday.

SARTELL-Gunnar Niemeyer and Preston Owen both captured Central Lakes Conference individual championships and the Brainerd Warriors placed second in the conference Saturday.

Niemeyer won the 100-meter butterfly and was third in the 50 freestyle. Preston Owen owned the 100 backstroke and was second in the 100 free.

Those two along with Michael Bylander and Griffin Blegen finished second in the medley relay. They trailed first-place Sartell by 1/100th of a second.

Bylander finished second in the 200 individual medley and was third in the 100 breaststroke.

The 200 free relay of Owen, Bylander, Niemeyer and Blegen was 2/10ths of a second from second place.


The top three individuals in each event earn all-conference, while places 4-6 earn honorable mention.

The top two relays are all-conference with third place earning honorable mention designation.

Blegen was sixth in the 50 freestyle and placed seventh in the 100 free.

All three Warrior backstrokers earned honors. Following Owens' first, freshman Tristan Dawson was fifth and Andy Dillon placed sixth.
