Jack Schafer belted a home run and swatted a double to spark the National League to an 8-3 victory over the American League in the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department's 61st annual Mid-Summer Classic at Bane Park Tuesday.
Schafer garnered most valuable player laurels not only for his proficiency at the plate but also on the mound. The big right-hander closed out the game by fanning three batters in two innings of relief.
Evan Lichtsinn was named the American League's MVP by striking out four batters in two innings.
Brendon Englund and Jack Scheinhost also doubled for the National League while Cody True singled and struck out two batters in one inning of relief.
For the American League, Alex Helmin, Tyler Roth, Cody Czech and Logan Peterson each singled. Noah Blakeman struck out two batters in two innings.
