ORLANDO, Fla. — Brainerd placed fourth out of 12 teams in the small coed non-tumble finals of the Universal Cheerleaders Association’s High School National Championship Saturday, Feb. 8.

Brainerd advanced to the non-tumble finals thanks to a zero deduction performance during the Friday, Feb. 7, semifinals. It was the second straight year Brainerd competed in the national tournament for that division, but it was the first time the Warriors competed in the medium non-tumble Game Day Divison Friday.

Brainerd was 0.4 points shy of advancing to the semifinals.

“I am extremely proud of their accomplishments,” Brainerd head coach Cariss Ulness said. “This is our second year at UCA Nationals and to advance to the finals and come in fourth in the nation is a huge accomplishment. We where up against some of the top teams in our division. Two of the teams won national titles last year so we knew going into the final round we had to give it our all and leave our hearts on the mat.

“To end our competition season placing fourth in the nation is the best way to close the season.”
