It was a busy weekend for the Brainerd Warriors.

Saturday, Feb. 13, the Warriors traveled to the Dassel-Cokato Invite where the squad won the coed non-tumble division and placed fourth in the game day division.

Brainerd competed in two invites Sunday, Feb. 14. Both were done virtually. In the first competition, Brainerd swept the competition with wins in both the coed non-tumble and game day cheer. The Warriors posted their highest marks of the season and received zero deductions for their routines.

“Having a zero-deduction performance is a big accomplishment for any cheer team,” Warrior head coach Carissa Ulness said. “When you are competing you have the chance of a stunt bobble, stunt fall, timing, or a safety deduction which would result in deductions from your overall score. Deductions on your score sheet could take you from first to last place, so it’s a big accomplishment to finish your routine with no deductions.”

Also Sunday, Feb. 14, Brainerd won the coed non-tumble division at the Prior Lake competition. Brainerd was third in the game day division.

“This week we will record for the UCA February Virtual Cheer Challenge where we will compete against teams from all over the country,” Ulness said. “Saturday (Feb. 20) we head to Minnetonka for the Tonka Freeze Competition and it’s 13 days until the Minnesota State Cheer Competition.”

Competing for Brainerd were: Kaitlynn Capistrant, Bailey Schuler, Amara Ruether, Zach Capistrant, Eva Harvey, Samina Crabtree, Breanna Frazer, Abby Schuler, Elizabeth Knutson, Amy Iverslie, Myah Ruether, Brenna Pedgette and Kiley Hart.
