Bemidji State University's Tatum Sheley was selected as Beaver Pride Athlete of the Week, after outstanding athletic performances during the week of Nov. 17-23.
Sheley led the BSU women's basketball team to a pair of wins. The sophomore averaged 18 points per game, shooting 53.6 percent (15-28) from the floor and 46.2 percent (6-13) from beyond the arc in the victories. She posted 12 points in BSU's win over Northland Nov. 18 before adding a career-high 24 points in a win over Mayville State Nov. 21. In addition, Sheley posted eight rebounds, six assists a blocked shot and three steals.
The Backus, native and Pine River-Backus High School graduate leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.5 points per game through the Beavers' first four games of 2014-15.
The BSU women's basketball team, now 2-2 overall will be back in action Nov. 29 as it begins league play hosting Minnesota Crookston. Tip off is set for 2 p.m. at the BSU Gymnasium.
