WORTHINGTON -- Two long throws were the difference for a Central Lakes College Raiders 20-14 loss to Minnesota West in an MCAC non-division matchup Saturday, Sept. 7, in Worthington.
Ridge Reed provided the Raiders offense with a 5-yard burst in the third quarter and a 3-yard plunge in the fourth quarter. Reed finished with 75 yards rushing on 18 attempts.
CLC’s Charles Dressel made 11 tackles and Adam Davis recorded three sacks. The Raiders got to Blue Jays quarterback Andrew Ortiz for nine sacks, but Ortiz’s arm proved the kryptonite for the Raiders defense.
Ortiz posted the only first-half score with a 36-yard strike to Titonaro Bumpus. His 68-yard throw to Montrez Heron midway through the fourth quarter gave the Blue Jays a 20-7 lead.
CLC quarterback Jakob Olson completed 13 of 31 passes for 175 yards and Mike Bostrom caught eight passes for 128 yards.
