Central Lakes College Raiders lineman Anthony King was named the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Eastern Division Player of the Week on defense for the week ending Saturday, Sept. 29.

The sophomore from Green Bay, Wis., was the leader of a Raider defense that halted then 17th-ranked and previously unbeaten Mesabi Range. In CLC's 31-16 victory, King finished with four tackles for loss, including two sacks. Five of his eight tackles were solo stops. He also accounted for a safety as part of a 15-0 first-half scoring surge by the Raiders.

King's all-around effort helped coach Greg Medeck collect his 100th win at CLC while also enabling CLC to sit alone atop the Eastern Division standings at 3-0. In his 12th season as the Raiders' head coach, Medeck has guided CLC to a 100-27 overall record.

In CLC's victory against Mesabi, Gabriel Magalei recorded 11 total tackles, including 1.5 sacks. He also forced a fumble. Isaak Hines returned a fumble 63 yards and Marnez Trotter had an interception.

On offense, CLC was led by Nyassinu Crowell with a 118 yards and a touchdown, while Ridge Reed had 58 yards on 16 carries. Jake Franklin and Dan Griep combined for 166 passing yards. Jack Quaal chipped in a 23-yard field goal and two extra points.
