College Football: Reed, Crowell lead CLC to 5th-straight victory, division title

CLOQUET--Ridge Reed and Nuke Crowell combined to rush for 313 yards and four touchdowns and the Central Lakes College Raiders wrapped up the Eastern Division title with a 38-20 victory over the Fond du Lac Thunder Saturday, Oct. 13.

CLOQUET-Ridge Reed and Nuke Crowell combined to rush for 313 yards and four touchdowns and the Central Lakes College Raiders wrapped up the Eastern Division title with a 38-20 victory over the Fond du Lac Thunder Saturday, Oct. 13.

Reed carried 17 times for 163 yards and scored on runs of 2 and 25 yards. Crowell rushed 23 times for 150 yards and a score. He also returned a kickoff 74 yards for a TD.

The Raiders piled up 490 total yards to the Thunder's 254.

CLC completed division play with a 5-0 record and improved to 5-2 overall with its fifth-straight victory.

"Nuke and Ridge combined for 313 yards rushing on 40 attempts to control the running game and lead our offense," CLC coach Greg Medeck said. "Each scored two TDs as well. Defensively we were led by Bubba Magalei who registered 12 total tackles including four tackles for loss."

CLC quarterback Jake Franklin passed for 153 yards including a 58-yard score to Jordan Thompson late in the first quarter.

Mekhi Besseck and Anthony King intercepted passes for the Raiders who end the regular season Saturday, Oct. 20, with a home game against Minnesota State Fergus Falls.

"A win will earn us home field advantage in the postseason," Medeck said. "Saturday is also alumni day and we are anticipating a nice turnout welcoming all alumni to stop by the game and participate in the celebration."
