GRAND RAPIDS-Mike Tveitbakk threw for four scores and the Central Lakes College defense held Itasca Community College to just 198 total yards as the Raiders claimed sole possession of first place in the Eastern Division with a 41-13 win.

Teddy Sherva led the Raiders' rushing attack with 170 yards on 16 carries while Tveitbakk finished 14 of 33 for 200 yards and accounted for five touchdowns.

Tveitbakk connected with Cody Rau for a 9-yard scoring play to even the game at 7-7 in the second quarter. After Daryl Waindim's 26-yard scoring catch, Rau caught another touchdown pass for two yards to give the Raiders a 21-7 halftime lead.

In the second half, Greg Lewis and Tveitbakk both scored on running plays, and Tveitbakk also threw to Adrian Reilly for a 23-yard TD.

The Vikings and Raiders were tied for first place entering the game with Itasca having the No. 1 offense and CLC at the bottom of the division in team defense.

It looked like that would be the case again as the Vikings' Josh Oberley threw a 48-yard scoring pass to Raquan Archer in the first quarter to give Itasca a 7-0 lead. The Vikings wouldn't score again until in the fourth quarter as the Raiders' defense allowed just 150 yards the rest of the game and picked off two interceptions.

Mykal Riley led the Raiders in tackles with eight while Adrian Jackson and Maurice Willis had the interceptions.

"Very excited for our win on the road at Itasca (Saturday)," said CLC coach Greg Medeck. "A great defensive effort combined with really strong performances from Sherva and Tveitbakk led to a decisive win against a very good 3-0 Itasca team.

"Our team is growing with each opportunity and it will be fun to start the second half of the season at home this Saturday against Fond du Lac."
