AUSTIN -- The Central Lakes College Raiders men's and women's golf teams won again Tuesday, this time at the Austin Country Club.
The men's team finally found some competition as it only beat host Riverland by six strokes but with a 303 score Raiders coach Jim Russell was happy with his team's performance.
"It was a great match because Riverland was the closest someone has ever been to us," Russell said. "We've been pretty consistent. It was the second day in a row that we played."
Travis Senenfelder had the lowest score for the Raiders with a 72. He finished second, just ahead of Joe Sauers and Eric Rowbottom who had 73s. Jeremy Medina shot a 77 followed by Josh Kuha's 80 and Nick Dahl's 89.
"We would have broke the 300 mark if Travis wasn't an alternate," said Russell. "We have a pretty solid 1-2-3 punch though and they were solid again today."
The women shot 10 strokes less than Bethany and beat the Mankato team for the second consecutive time.
"The girls have been great lately," Russell said. "Our two additions have been able to make some tournaments.
"Lori (Murphy) and Anita (Ortquist) have really helped a lot. That's what we needed -- a third person to score low. With Becky (Schornack) and Tricia (Jasmer) consistently in the 80s we needed one more. That's what's been getting us over Bethany."
Schornack finished third with an 85 followed by Jasmer's 89. Murphy shot a 90 and Ortquist 100.
