BRAINERD — In the end, Itasca got the last laugh.
After Central Lakes College knocked off Itasca 5-4 Wednesday, May 11, for the right to host the Region 13B playoffs, Itasca eliminated the Raiders from the playoffs one game away from the championship Sunday, May 15.
Cassidy Zontelli went 3-for-3 with an RBI for CLC, but three Raiders errors helped Itasca to a 9-1 victory.
Zakia Herron tripled and scored on a Zontelli single for the Raiders who finish the season 23-11.
Addie Sanford was a single away from doing everything in a 16-2 victory over Northland in the tournament opener Saturday, May 14.

Sanford went 3-4 with a double, triple home run, three runs scored and four RBIs.She also pitched a complete game. She allowed two runs, one earned, on seven hits and no walks. She struck out five.
Brooke Corrigan was 3-3 with a double, two home runs and five RBIs. Zakia Herron finished 3-3 with two runs and an RBI.
In a 5-2 second-round loss to North Dakota State College of Science Saturday, Sarah Kossan finished 2-3 with a run and Sydnee Johnson posted two hits. Corrigan and Halle Zupan doubled for CLC.
Marissa Callahan suffered the loss. She allowed five runs on 10 hits and one walk over five innings. She struck out two.
