College Softball: Raiders fall in close season opener

CLERMOUNT, FLA. — Central Lakes’ Brianna Meyer slammed a home run and collected 2 RBIs as the Raiders fell 9-7 to the Delta College Pioneers in their season opener Saturday, March 7.

Sarah Kossan and Jenna Gratz recorded doubles for the Raiders. Kali Mammenga was 2-4 with an RBI and Jordyn Sullivan scored twice.

Gratz pitched the loss. She allowed nine runs on seven hits and six walks. She struck out two.

In Game Two, Haley Youngbauer was 1-4 with a triple as the Raiders fell 13-4 to Muskegon Community College.

Scoring for Central Lakes College in the nightcap were Gratz, Youngbauer, Katie Johnson and Abby Pelowski.

Kossan was the Game Two pitcher. She walked seven and struck out seven in 4.2 innings worked. She allowed five runs, one earned, on six hits.
