College Softball: Raiders sweep Mesabi Range, fall to Rainy River

Haley Youngbauer finished 5-6 with a walk, six runs, three RBIs and six stolen bases to lead off the Central Lakes College Raiders to a 16-0, 15-1 sweep of Mesabi Range Saturday, April 17 in Brainerd.

Addie Sanford posted her first collegiate victory as she struck out eight and scattered two runs over five innings in Game One. Sanford helped her own cause by going 1-2 with a double, three runs and an RBI.

Sydnee Johnson finished 3-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Cassidy Zontelli and Sarah Kossan each recorded two hits and two runs. Zontelli drove in two and Kossan one.

In Game Two, Jenna Gratz struck out eight and allowed one run on three hits and two walks.

Zontelli finished 2-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Kossan was 2-3 with two runs and three RBIs.

Addie Sanford smashed an inside-the-park home run and finished 2-2 with two runs and two RBIs and Paige Soltis was 2-3 with a double, triple, two runs and three RBIs for the Raiders.

The Raiders suffered a 7-5, 12-4 sweep by Rainy River Sunday, April 18.

In Sunday’s opener, Jenna Gratz went 3-4 with a double, run and RBI. Sanford drove in two runs and Sydnee Johnson was 3-4 with a double and RBI. Kossan collected two hits and a run and Zontelli was 1-3 with a run and an RBI.

Sanford allowed seven runs, four earned, on nine hits and three walks. She struck out eight.

Zontelli went 2-3 with a triple, a run and three RBIs in the 12-4 nightcap. Youngbauer walked three times and scored twice.

Gratz suffered the loss. She allowed seven runs on three hits and six walks.
