ST. JOSEPH-Junior Sara Wennerstrand of Baxter and the College of St. Benedict was named the MIAC Softball Player of the Week.

It's the third MIAC weekly honor of Wennerstrand's career, making her the first CSB softball player to earn three weekly honors in a career.

Her latest honor comes after she led the team with a .439 batting average and .707 slugging percentage in 12 games. Wennerstrand finished the 12 games with 18 hits and had seven multi-hit games.

Of her 18 hits, two were doubles and three were home runs, and she finished the week with 13 RBIs. Wennerstrand struck out just once in 41 at bats, and finished the week with a .942 fielding percentage, including 22-for-23 on putouts at shortstop.

Wennerstrand helped the Blazers finish 10-2 on their spring break trip to Clermont, Fla. Included in the victories was a win over the No. 21-ranked team in Division III. She currently leads the MIAC in home runs (3) and is second in RBIs (14).
