Central Lakes College freshman Ashley Abear of Merrifield was named the MCAC Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week ending Sept. 6.
The 5-2 Abear had 59 digs (4.21/set) as CLC (5-5 overall, 2-0 North) split four matches at the Rochester tournament. Abear had 22 digs in a 3-1 win over No. 10 Harper and 18 more in a 3-1 loss to No. 9 Rochester.
