ROCKFORD, ILL. — Jaime Johnson produced 17 kills, 22 digs, two ace serves and two blocks for the Central Lakes College Raiders who fell 3-1 to Sauk Valley and 3-0 to College of Dupage Saturday, Aug. 21, in the McHenry Invite.
Haley Schleper added 13 kills, 14 digs and eight blocks while Megan Rinicker went for 14 kills and seven blocks.
“One good thing you can see by the scores is that we start really well,” Raiders head coach Jane Peterson said. “That’s good. We know how to get ready for a match, but we have to figure out how to sustain it. Our blocking was better by the numbers and that was one of the things I mentioned about Friday.
“There were a number of players who I thought played better than I thought they would. I think I need higher expectations. Grace Peabody has never set a 5-1. Jaime Johnson is playing somewhere new this season.
“Haley and Megan played all the way around so that’s asking a lot of people to play middle hitter and go all the way around. It takes a lot of energy. People who went in performed well, too. Kaitlyn Hines went in and didn’t make a mistake.”

Peabody finished with 52 set assists, 15 digs and four kills and Sarah Bennett collected 26 digs.
“I’m super proud of the team atmosphere and the effort and willingness to learn and be patient about what we’re doing,” Peterson added. “Nobody has played this offense that we’re running.”
