DULUTH - Brainerd High School graduate Sydnie Mauch of Minnesota-Duluth was named to the NCAA Division II Central Region All-Tournament Team after fourth-ranked Southwest Minnesota State knocked off the No. 2 Bulldogs 3-1 in the regional championship match Saturday night.
Mauch had six kills and played a part in three of UMD's nine blocks in the final.
The 6-foot-1 sophomore middle blocker played in 115 games this season, starting all 35 matches. She finished with 298 kills, averaging 2.59 per game.
UMD (33-2) defeated Southwest (24-9) three times before the regional en route to the greatest single-season record in program history (.943 win percentage with 33 wins in 35 matches). The Mustangs defeated the Bulldogs 25-22, 16-25, 25-21, 25-19 in the regional final.
