INTERNATIONAL FALLS - The Central Lakes College Raiders came away with a 3-1 Northern Division win over Rainy River on Monday night and.
Kelly Pearson notched eight kills, and Ashley Abear collected 14 digs for the Raiders. Sam Schlangen recorded 23 set assists and Ashton Kapphahn followed with 22.
The Raiders dropped the first set 25-22, but rallied to win the next three 25-21, 25-16, and 25-16. They now prepare for a division match against Itasca, which is also 4-1 in division play, Wednesday night at home.
"We got better as we went along. They are a good scrappy defensive team," CLC coach Jane Peterson said of Rainy River. "They were running around crazy and it took a little bit of adjustment, and our serving got better as we went along. It was nice to improve as we went along."
