Curling teams from Brainerd won three of the four championships last weekend during the 52nd Annual Gopher State Women’s Curling Association bonspiel in Detroit Lakes.
Gopher State is a three-day all-women’s bonspiel (tournament) that attracts teams from throughout Minnesota. This year’s bonspiel featured 16 teams, including six from Brainerd.
Brainerd’s Black Cats went undefeated to win the A Event championship. The team was comprised of Courtney Osbakken, Kelly Gorvin, Jill Anderson and Sue Cebelinski
Brainerd’s McDonald won the B Event championship. McDonald was Ginny McDonald, Toni Czeczok, Kerrie Erikstrup and Sara Simon.
Two Brainerd teams earned their way to the finals of the D Event. Mystic Curls beat Hamilton for the championship. Mystic Curls was Terria Rohloff, Marie Abbey, Pat Einarson and Vicki Foss. Hamilton was Mary Jo Hamilton, Lynn Hultstrom, Kristi Anderson and Megan Morgan.

Team Carlson, which had two Brainerd curlers on it, lost in the championship of the C Event. The two curlers were Kelly Sharkey and Lynne Jacobs.
