Cycling: Anderson opens season in 8th place

Crosby-Ironton junior Braeden Anderson placed eighth overall in his first mountain bike competition of the year Sunday, March, 1, at Rincon, Puerto Rico.

Anderson gained Union Cycliste Internationale points against the best Junior (17-18) riders in the world. The UCI is the world governing body for cycling. Points gained at

UCI events increase the chance of invitation to future events as well as giving a rider a better start position. International events like Sunday’s in Puerto Rico give maximum points. The Minnesota High School Cycling State Champion will next compete in two weeks at the USA Cup in Temecula, Calif.
