WADENA-Aitkin is headed back to the state meet as it placed second in kick and third in jazz in the Section 4-1A meet Saturday, Feb. 9.
Aitkin scored 6.5 rank points, to just miss winning the section kick title, which went to Frazee with 6 rank points. Frazee swept both titles as it won jazz with four rank points.
Crosby-Ironton placed fourth in both events with 17.5 rank points in jazz and 16 in kick.
"We had an injury toward the end of the jazz performance so had to stop and redo it without her at the end," C-I head coach Amy Lundgren said. "Then we had to try to adjust formations and go without her in kick. As difficult as that was on everyone, the dancers really came together and pulled off two amazing performances.
"The scoring in jazz was very inconsistent and we expected to place higher so that is frustrating, but I'm proud of how well the girls rose to the challenge."
Pierz placed fifth in jazz and sixth in kick, while Wadena-Deer Creek landed in eighth in kick and 11th in jazz.
Pine River-Backus placed 13th in jazz and 15th in kick.
The top three teams in each division advance to state.
