Six former Warrior dance team members will compete at the UDA College Dance Team National Championship Jan 18-20 in Orlando, Fla.

Alli (Spieker) Mackner, head coach for the University of Minnesota, Duluth, will head to nationals with her team competing in open jazz. She is a former member and captain of the UMD dance team and this is her first year as head coach. Alli is a 2012 Brainerd High School grad and former captain of the Warrior dance team.

Brainerd alumnae Mackenzie Davidge, Avery Davidge and Kalie Jeremiason will be competing with the University of St Thomas dance team in the open division. Mackenzie Davidge is a 2015 Brainerd graduate and is a senior at St Thomas. She is a second-year captain for the team. Avery Davidge is a 2017 Brainerd grad and a sophomore at St Thomas. She is a second-year team member. Jeremiason is a 2018 graduate who will be competing at Nationals this year for the first time as a freshman. The University of St Thomas, which has previously won 11 national championships, will compete in the hip hop and jazz divisions.

MaKayla Clough, 2017 BHS grad and former member and captain of the Warriors will compete in open jazz and open pom with Minnesota State University Mankato. She is a two-year member and first-year captain with the Mavericks. In 2017, Mankato placed fifth in open pom and fourth in open jazz.

Marcy Stout, a first-year member of the St Cloud State University dance team, will also be in the open jazz division at Nationals. Stout is a 2018 BHS grad. St Cloud placed third in open jazz last year.

St. Thomas will represent Minnesota in open hip hop with 21 teams competing. Ten will move on to the finals Sunday, Jan 20.

There are 32 teams competing in open jazz, six from Minnesota: University of Minnesota, Duluth, St Cloud State University, the University of St. Thomas, Minnesota State University Moorhead, Minnesota State University Mankato and the College of St. Benedict. Sixteen teams will advance to finals Sunday.

Minnesota State University Moorhead, Minnesota State University Mankato and the College of St. Benedict will compete in the open pom division. Nine of the 18 teams will advance to finals.
