MAPLE GROVE-Brainerd's cheer team will head to state in style.
The Warriors finished first out of five teams in the medium, non-tumble division of the Maple Grove Crimson Cheer Challenge Sunday, Jan. 27.
Competing on the varsity were: Kaylee Sutton, Rayah Unger, Zach Capistrant, Violet Goodwin, Kaitlynn Capistrant, Malia Hermerding, Lindsay Carner, Ella Schmitz, Breanna Fraser, Rachel Aydt, Amara Ruether, Jordan Koering, Savannah Roth and Amber Russell.
Brainerd's junior varsity of Bailey Schuler, Kjerstin Flansburg, Quinn Giles, Shayn Meyer, Anna Davis and Gabby Miller finished third in the non-tumble division.
Both teams will prepare for the Minnesota State Cheer Competition Saturday, Feb. 2 at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul. Brainerd will then travel Feb. 6 to Orlando, Fla. for the UCA National Championships.
