Tom Hoge, fresh off his career-best finish a week ago, shot an 8-under 64 to take the early lead Thursday at the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Miss.

Hoge started with birdies on four of his first five holes. Despite hitting just half of the fairways in regulation, he hit nearly 78% of the greens in regulation and had two sand saves on the back nine during his bogey-free round.

The former Fargo South player capped the round with a 45-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole.

Robert Streb, Cameron Percy and Seamus Power are a shot back as weather suspended play in the afternoon.

Zach Johnson is among several players at 5-under.

Hoge finished second last week at the Greenbrier Classic behind Joaquin Niemann, who shot an opening round 68.
