TORONTO - Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Chris Colabello has been suspended 80 games without pay for a failed drug test, Major League Baseball said on Friday.

Colabello tested positive for the performance-enhancing substance called dehydrochlormethyltestosterone that is in violation of MLB's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. The 32-year-old Colabello, who broke into the major leagues with the Minnesota Twins in 2013 before joining the Blue Jays ahead of the 2015 campaign, had a 0.69 batting average in 10 games this season.

Last season, he belted 15 home runs with 54 runs batted in and a .321 batting average in part-time duty. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; Editing by Larry Fine)
