Girls Basketball: Brainerd wins for third time in last four games

CAMBRIDGE--Kylee Heurung poured in 28 points to help the Brainerd Warriors defeat the Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets 58-46 in a non-conference game Thursday.

CAMBRIDGE-Kylee Heurung poured in 28 points to help the Brainerd Warriors defeat the Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets 58-46 in a non-conference game Thursday.

Heurung swished 9 of 11 free throws and snagged nine rebounds.

Ashley Huber and Lillee Hardee each added eight points for Brainerd which has won three of its last four games. The Warriors led by as many as 15 points and rattled off a 10-point run during the contest.

"We won a hard-fought game tonight," Warriors coach Troy Nelson said. "We didn't shoot well as a team but we battled and played defense all game.

"I was proud of the girls' effort and energy. Our defensive tenacity forced 31 turnovers and nine deflections which was the key to our victory."
