Girls Basketball: Ewald’s team gets 2nd at AAU Nationals

Pillager junior Juliana Ewald played on the 2023 Minnesota Stars AAU basketball team based out of the Twin Cities.

The team played in the 10 tournaments from mid-March until mid-July. Her team took second place in The Super 64 tournament July 6-8 in Dallas, Texas and second in the AAU Nationals held in the Twin Cities July 20-22.

Ewald plays on a team with players from the Twins Cities, Red Wing, Rochester, Bryon and Wisconsin.

As a sophomore in 2021, Ewald finished with 212 points (12.5 per game), 61 rebounds (3.6 per game), 45 assists (2.6 per game), 61 steals and four blocked shots. She shot 41% (81-197) from the field, 35% (35-101) from 3-point, and 50% (15-30) from the free throw line.

She earned Dispatch All-Area First Team as a sophomore and was named Dispatch All-Area as a freshman in 2020.


As a freshman, Ewald finished with 378 points (14.0 per game), 108 rebounds (4.0 per game), 63 assists (2.3 per game) and 78 steals. She shot 39% (123-314) from the field, 36% (67-185) from 3-point and 71% (65-92) from the free-throw line.
