Girls Basketball: Heurung's 31 not enough

ALEXANDRIA--Kylee Heurung scored 31 points and the Brainerd Warriors trailed by just two points with two minutes to go, but the Alexandria Cardinals pulled away for an 81-69 Central Lakes Conference victory Friday.

Class 3A's fourth-ranked Cardinals improved to 14-0 in the conference to claim the CLC title.

Lexi Roby added 10 points for the Warriors, who dropped to 9-5 in conference play.

"I am extremely proud of the girls effort tonight," said Brainerd head coach Troy Nelson. "They showed up ready to play and played with great desire the whole game. We were within two points with under two minutes to go. We had to play the foul game and they made their free throws."
