Ally Brzezinski led the Brainerd Warriors offense with 18 points, but it was the defense that led to a 56-45 Central Lakes Conference victory over Sartell Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Brainerd High School.

Brzezinski added six rebounds and five deflections. Myah Nelson posted 17 points and two steals and Meghan Smith and Emma Tautges each scored 10 points for Brainerd, which held Sartell to 31% shooting and forced 19 turnovers.

“We started slow tonight, but then went on a nice run thanks to our defensive pressure,” Warriors head coach Troy Nelson said. “The girls did a good job executing our game plan and sharing the ball.”

Smith added five assists, four steals and four deflections for Brainerd which completed the season sweep of Sartell. The Warriors topped the Sabres 58-54 Jan. 29.
