Girls Bowling: Warriors win conference championship, qualify for state

The Brainerd Warrior girls bowling team won the Northwest Conference tournament at Northern Aire Lanes in Fergus Falls and earned the right to participate in the state tournament April 28 at Bowlero in Lakeville.

The Brainerd Warrior girls bowling team won the Northwest Conference tournament at Northern Aire Lanes in Fergus Falls and earned the right to participate in the state tournament April 28 at Bowlero in Lakeville.

Brainerd Blue was the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament and received a first-round bye. Brainerd Blue then defeated Brainerd Silver 3-0 and Detroit Lakes 3-0.

In the championship match against Detroit Lakes, Brainerd Blue averaged 197 per game.

Brainerd's high bowlers for the day were Caitlin Brooks with 92.3 percent fills and Hannah Larson with 88.2 percent.

All five starters on the Blue team made the all-conference team. First-team all-conference bowlers from Brainerd Blue were Hannah Larson, Shakira Warta and Abbi Olson. Second-team all-conference bowlers from Brainerd Blue were Caitlin Brooks and Abbey Thurstin. Brainerd Silver's Amaya Houle also made the second team.

The All-Northwest Conference Tournament is scheduled April 29 at Bowlero.
