Girls Golf: Warriors in second place after Section 8-3A opening round

COLD SPRING--Katie Foley shot a second-place 79 to lead the Brainerd Warriors to second place after the opening round of the Section 8-3A Tournament Tuesday, May 28, at Rich Springs Golf Club.

COLD SPRING-Katie Foley shot a second-place 79 to lead the Brainerd Warriors to second place after the opening round of the Section 8-3A Tournament Tuesday, May 28, at Rich Springs Golf Club.

Foley's 79, trailed only Alexandria's Hannah Borass' 76 for the tournament's best score. Borass led Alexandria to a first-round leading 333. Brainerd trails by seven shots heading into the final round Wednesday, May 29.

Abby Pohlkamp fired a top 10 84 followed by Anna Krieger's 87. Izzy Olson and Alexis Menghini both carded 90s.

The top six teams and top 12 individuals not on those teams advance to Wednesday's final round.

Team scores: 1-Alexandria 333, 2-Brainerd 340, 3-Bemidji 347, 4-Willmar 350, 5-Moorhead 361, 6-Sartell 362, Buffalo 369, Becker 396, St. Cloud 421
