Girls Hockey: Variety of scorers power Warriors past Spuds

The Brainerd/Little Falls Warriors hosted the Moorhead Spuds Saturday, Feb. 6.

Josie Kappes, Mercedes Engstrom and Taylor Larson each picked up their first goals of the season as five different Warriors scored in a 5-1 victory over Morehead In a Section 8-2A match up Saturday, Feb. 6, at Essentia Health Sports Center.

Molly Hagelie put the Warriors on the scoreboard first with an assist from Peyton LeMieur.

Kappes’ second-period goal gave the Warriors a 2-0 lead before Moorhead answered to close out the second period.

Emma Booth registered her team-leading third goal followed by Engstrom’s first goal and Taylor Larson’s first goal. The goal is Larson’s fifth point of the season, which is tied for the team lead.

Breya Sawyer’s 23 saves in net helped the Warriors to their third straight victory.
