Girls Soccer: Otters hand Warriors first conference loss since 2016

Brainerd traveled to Fergus Falls for a Central Lakes Conference matchup.

FERGUS FALLS — Despite outshooting the Fergus Falls Otters 16-3, the Brainerd Warriors suffered its first Central Lakes Conference loss in 42 matches Tuesday, Sept. 21, by the score of 2-1.

Lexi McElfresh put the Warriors up 1-0 on an assist from Emma Sheflo 3:30 into the first half.

The Otters tied the score early in the second half and the deciding goal came on an own goal 9:36 into the second half.

Brainerd was 41-0-1 in its previous conference matches. Brainerd’s last conference loss came Oct. 10, 2016, at the hands of Sartell.
