Girls Soccer: Top-seeded Knights edge Warriors in Section 8-2A semifinals

ST. MICHAEL--Brainerd keeper Molly Rudolph recorded 11 saves on 13 shots for the No. 4-seeded Warriors as they fell 2-1 to the top-seeded St. Michael-Albertville Knights in the Section 8-2A semifinals Saturday, Oct 13.

ST. MICHAEL-Brainerd keeper Molly Rudolph recorded 11 saves on 13 shots for the No. 4-seeded Warriors as they fell 2-1 to the top-seeded St. Michael-Albertville Knights in the Section 8-2A semifinals Saturday, Oct 13.

Olivia King registered the Warriors' only goal off of an assist from Gina Wasniewski in the second half.

The loss ends the Warriors' season with a 13-4 record. Two of those losses were to St. Michael-Albertville.

"We are so proud as coaches of the effort and the fight of this team all season long," Brainerd head coach Grant Gmeinder said. "They are a group of girls that has a refuse-to-lose attitude in every game.

"We want to thank our seniors Molly Rudolph, Alexis Menghini, Abby Pohlkamp, Olivia King, Chantrelle Thayer, Ellie Bymark and Kaylee Gunter for an incredible year. They accomplished so much on and off the field."
