Girls Swimming and Diving: Yellowjackets outscore Cardinals

STAPLES--Lili Schneider and Emily Veronen each won two individual events and swam on a winning relay for the Staples-Motley/Verndale Cardinals, who lost 101-77 to the Perham Yellowjackets in Monday's Mid-State Conference dual meet.

STAPLES-Lili Schneider and Emily Veronen each won two individual events and swam on a winning relay for the Staples-Motley/Verndale Cardinals, who lost 101-77 to the Perham Yellowjackets in Monday's Mid-State Conference dual meet.

Schneider was the first to touch the wall in the 100-yard freestyle and 100 breaststroke while Veronen outswam the field in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke. They teamed up with Autumn Nelsen and Aleeah Halvorson to win the opening 200 medley relay.

Nelsen topped the podium in the 50 freestyle and won the 100 butterfly. Evelyn Gonzalez was second in diving with a personal-best 107.85 points and Adriana Dickey placed second in the 200 individual medley.
