AITKIN -- The Aitkin Gobblers tennis team's chance of advancing in the postseason came down to the No. 3 doubles match where the team of Jake Curtiss-Michael Hughes lost 6-2, 7-5, giving Duluth Marshall a 4-3 victory in the first round of the Subsection 7, Class 1A tournament Thursday.
The Gobblers received singles wins from seniors Chris Grafft, Adam Janzen and Nate Christensen. Janzen is undefeated in 17 matches and has 51 career wins.
Brian Hallberg is 14-3 in doubles and Roman Haberkorn is 8-8 at No. 1 singles.
