DULUTH — The doubles team of Lindsy Busch-Catherine Moraghan are headed to the Section 7-1A finals after winning their side of the bracket in the North Subsection 7-2A individual tournament Tuesday, Oct. 12.
The Brainerd Warriors duo will be accompanied by Pequot Lakes’ Megan Muller and Carly Chaney who both advanced in the singles bracket.
Busch-Moraghan opened with a 6-0, 6-2 victory against a Duluth Denfeld squad then topped Pequot’s Kelbee Lampi-Lexi Peterson in the semifinals before defeating the No. 1 seeded team from Hibbing 6-2, 6-4 in the finals.
Brainerd’s other doubles team of Brynne Folden-Lila Collins won its first two matches in straight sets before losing to Hibbing’s other doubles team 6-4, 6-4 in the finals of that bracket.
Muller, the top seed in the singles bracket, cruised through her opponents winning in straight sets all the way to her final match where she won 6-1, 6-0.

Chaney had to defeat Brainerd’s Ella Chausse 6-2, 6-0 in the finals of their bracket to advance. Chaney won both her previous matches 6-2, 6-2.
Chaussee opened with a 6-1, 6-2 victory and advanced to the semifinals against Chaney after winning 6-3, 6-2.
“All of our players represented our team tremendously well,” Warriors head coach Lisa Salo said. “It was a long day and you have to prep so differently for a day like this as we had to play this tournament on four courts. We had a lot of good matches today.”
