Girls Tennis: Tech ties Warriors for CLC lead

Brainerd's Hailey Hinrichs and St. Cloud Tech's Anne Bowe played a scintillating three-hour match as the Central Lakes Conference leaders battled Tuesday at Brainerd High School.

Hinrichs won the No. 4 singles match 4-6, 7-6, 7-5. Unfortunately it was the only singles win for the Warriors as they fell to the Tigers 5-2.

Going into the meet, Brainerd led the CLC with four points, with Tech in second with three points. With the Tech win, the Warriors and Tigers are now tied for the lead.

"Hailey Hinrichs competed very well in a three-set match that was just under three hours in the No. 4 singles match," said Brainerd coach Lisa Salo.

The Brainerd No. 3 team of Megan Wroolie-Jenna Swenson won their match 6-4, 6-4.

"Our third doubles team had one of their best and most competitive matches this year. They felt very confident," Salo said.

Hannah Moen-Kennedy Rusk also played a match that lasted two and a half hours, but came up on the losing side of the three-setter.

"We knew this match (against Tech) would be very competitive," said Salo. "We came away knowing these are the opportunities that we want to be able to compete against a strong team."
