ST. CLOUD - Hannah Moen and Kennedy Rusk finished on the top side of a marathon No. 2 doubles match and Payge Fitterer was the lone singles victor for the Warriors in Brainerd's 5-2 loss to Class 2A's 10th-ranked St. Cloud Tech in Thursday's Central Lakes Conference match.
The No. 2 doubles match lasted more than three hours with Moen and Kennedy starting to battle darkness as well as their opponents before emerging with a 6-4, 6-7 (1-7), 7-5 victory.
Fitterer also had to go three sets to claim a 1-6, 6-4, 7-5 win.
"Payge had a big match coming back after losing her first set and then winning the next two sets," said Brainerd coach Lisa Salo. "She competed really well and played hard. "The doubles match was just a long back and forth match."
The Warriors had won four straight going into Thursday's match and are now 9-3 overall, 5-2 in the conference. Both of their CLC losses were by identical 5-2 scores at the hands of Tech, which leads the conference at 6-0.

Brainerd junior varsity singles winners were Kiera Schweitzberger and Mallory Maine.
Doubles winners were Maria Bell-Libby Kurtzman, Mikaela Maki-Jessie Ernster, Isabelle Thompson-Nicole Rud, Hannah Rud-Maura Halverson, Victoria Vesely-Kristi Galema, Amanda Rahto-Emily Schwaderer and Eva Dabill-Kirsten Schroer.
