Girls Tennis: Warriors score a 2nd at Delano


DELANO -- Addie Sanford and Chloe Pecarich earned medalist honors in the Delano Tournament, Thursday, Aug. 22, going 3-0 at No. 2 doubles and leading the Brainerd Warriors to second place.

The No. 3 doubles team of Catherine Moraghan and Lindsy Busch also earned medalist honors going 3-0.

Brainerd finished with 29 points -- just seven points off first place behind Orono.

"We had a great day of tennis at the Delano Tournament,” Brainerd coach Lisa Salo said. “This is always a good tournament for us as we get to see many different teams. A lot of growth happens during a day of tennis like this and our team is very pleased with our results. Everyone's efforts contributed to a strong team finish."

Brainerd’s Savannah Smith finished in second place as No. 3 singles and Kate Chaussee was consolation champion as No. 2 singles.

Kate Kurtzman finished in seventh place at No. 1 singles and Ella Chaussee finished in sixth at No. 4 singles.

No. 1 doubles Lily Jones and Ally Goeden finished in third place going 2-1. No. 4 doubles with the combination of Peyton McConkey, Lila Collins and Raleigh Mann also finished third with a 2-1 record.
