Area Golf News: .925 Silver is golden in second half
With its 31-13 victory over Giovanni's Pizza Aug. 23, .925 Silver secured the second-half team title for the men's league at Cragun's Legacy Courses.
.925 Silver will now face Big Wood, the first-half runner-up, in the opening round of the postseason. The other playoff will be between Reichert Bus, which won the first half, and Von Hanson's Meats, which finished second in the second half.
Von Hanson's topped the Smoking Aces 23.5-16.5 Aug. 23 for the final playoff position.

Breezy Point women
Sue Skinner shot a 25 to win the Lucky 7 game Aug. 23 for the Breezy Point Women's League.
Gloria Thomas was second for the first flight with a 28.
Winning the second flight was Connie Colon followed by Sue Marsolais, Martha Polsfuss and a tie for fourth between Judy Thomas and Joi Brandt.
Sylvia Schmidt finished first in the third flight followed by Polly Aumock and Bunny Oseland.
Final league play will be Thursday, Aug. 30, at The Traditional followed by lunch at Billy's.
Senior Open scheduled
The Mille Lacs Senior Open is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sept. 13 at the Northwood Hills Golf Course in Garrison.
The cost is $55 for men and women 50 years or older. The format is individual medal play with four divisions each of net and gross. There will be a champions division (players 50-59), senior division (60-69), super senior division (70 and older) and a women's division.
There will also be a professional gross play for players 50 and over.

Claudia Pilot of The Pines at Grand View Lodge finished fourth in the senior division of the MGA Women's Senior Amateur Championship Aug. 20-21 at Alexandria Golf Club.
Pilot finished at 11-over-par 155 following rounds of 79-76.
Barb Hanson of Whitefish Golf Club placed 11th in the first flight.
