Girls Golf: Pequot third in season opener

CROSSLAKE—Maddie Pederson tied for fifth and Hayden Boelter placed eighth to lead the Pequot Lakes Patriots to third place Thursday, April 18 in the Pequot Lakes Invite at Crosswoods Golf Course.

Bo Erholtz also tied for fifth with her 86 and Ava Schneider finished 10th with a 91 for the Staples-Motley Cardinals, who were incomplete.

The Aitkin Gobblers finished fourth as a team,

Pederson also fired an 86 and Boelter's 88 was a personal best. It was one for personal best rounds for Pequot players.

"It was a great day for the Patriots," Pequot head coach Savannah Smith said. "We had many personal bests, which is encouraging since this is our first meet of the season. If we can continue to build off of this momentum, the next month and a half are going to be exciting for everyone.

"We shot our personal best team score (365) since I have been coaching and all four scores were under 100. These are huge improvements compared to last season and I am so proud of all their hard work."
